Summer birds – and a bee – at Cley Marshes.

The dawn was shrouded in mist whose droplets fell from the trees. The sound of rain without the rain.
Recorded on World Listening Day 18 July 2013 at Cley-next-the-Sea.
This wind turbine is at the Norfolk Wildlife Trust’s Visitor Centre overlooking Cley Marshes on the north Norfolk coast. It opened in May 2007 and it generates heat and power through its own wind turbine, solar panel and
ground source heat pump.
I attached a couple of pick-up microphones to the metal tower and listened inside.
NOTE – the turbine was removed in 2015.

In order to avoid the strong wind I popped my microphone down on the reed bed floor.

A windy day in North Norfolk as you can hear, but when the wind drops you can hear the birds are singing.

Heading down the East Bank to the sea. The Brent geese gather. Following the recent foods the marshes are being drained.
The geese take flight as their numbers threaten to be taken over by motorcycles!
